Being born and raised in East New York Brooklyn, automatically puts you in a position that many don’t get out of. The differentiator for me was the family that surrounded me. I was raised by the Puerto Rican side of my family. That consisted of a strict & hard working single mother, my grandparents & a few Aunts & Uncles.

 

My Mother’s work ethic is an example for anyone taking on life with their back against the wall. Knowing what I know now, I don’t know how she did it. My Grandparents were our saving grace. At 4 years old, when my mother and father separated, they gave us a room in their house to make ours. This is where I spent most of my childhood. There’s a saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.” Although my village wasn’t perfect, it taught me many things & forced me to grow up fast…

 

In high school we moved out to Elmont, NY. A little town on the border of Jamaica Queens & Long island. When you needed a legitimate job, you either got involved with a local business or jumped on the bus to find work at the mall. I never would’ve thought getting a job at the mall would result in spending half my life in the retail / wholesale business. I also didn’t realize I would meet people that would change my life forever!

 

My defining start to this journey began at Nordstrom Roosevelt Field. A place that took me in and gave me a home away from home. A place that surrounded me with people who invested the time and made an effort to give this kid from Brooklyn an opportunity to make something of himself. After 11 years & 8 assignments across the country, I had the opportunity to branch out into the wholesale side of the business. In the wholesale space, I met and collaborated with many independent business owners, who quickly became dear friends.

 

One thing that resonated with me throughout this journey… this business isn’t just about product and sales. It’s about people; and we need to take care of each other. 2020 turned every ones life upside down; we need to be mindful of that. In a day and age where life is pulling us in so many directions, we need to remember the importance of living in the moment and protecting our peace of mind. Which is why LIVE LIVE will be donating 5% of its sales to an organization supporting Mental Health.

  

LIVE LIVE was initially a passion project created & rooted in the arts. It was designed to remind us to live in the moment and be at our best. A reminder to love the life we live, but through growth & change - aspire to be more!

We all have our own form of expression. That one thing we do to calm our mind and ease our soul. That passion that drives us and motivates us to be the best version of ourselves. LIVE LIVE is a reminder for us to not only find that, but make sure we make time to fuel it.
